Introduction

A dystopia is a fictional society. A future time extremely bad due to deprivation, oppression, or terror. The opposite of utopia.

Task

You saw a very brief and incomplete meaning of Dystopia.

You are going to work in groups of 4 people to better understand and explain what is it to your classmates.

  • The group will present to the class a research on the Dystopia and Utopia subjects, explaining what each one means.
  • Include arguments for and against.
  • Explain the difference between Dystopia and Science Fiction.
  • Mention musics, movies and/or books as examples.
  • Prepare a visual presentation of the group view of the planet in the future.
  • You can choose between:
  1. drawing
  2. sculpture
  3. video presentation
  4. power point or prezi presentation
  5. padlet or other technological tool

  2. Is it an optimistic, a pessimistic or a neutral view?
  3. What is the difference between dystopia, utopia and science fiction?

Conclusion

The idea of this webquest is that the students work together in collaboration a research about a theme. After research, the analysis and discussion about the collected information come up and, in the end, a presentation is done, in the classroom, in order to show and explain us the group point of view about Dystopia.
