Introduction
Magnets display an amazing power to make things move. When a string is used to pull or move something it is visible and it's clearly shown how it works. Magnets seem to move things as if its magical.

An adult to help
A battery (AA, C, or D size)
A piece of metal wire about 1 foot (centimeters) long
An iron nail
Tape

Process
Evaluation
What happens to the nail when you remove the wire from the the battery? Is it still a magnet?
Conclusion
No, in order for it to be a magnet it needs to generate a magnetic field which is acheived only when the wire is conneced to the battery.
