Let's Go On A Journey To Meet Dinosaurs!

Introduction

Have you ever wanted to walk among the dinosaurs? Have you ever wondered what their daily life was like? Well wonder no more! Our class is going on a journey through time to learn more about dinosaurs and document their life and activities. Grab your Dinosaurs book by Anna Pomaska, your journals and crayons. Are you ready? Let's go!

Task

As you turn the pages and discover a new dinosaur, keep a journal as if you've encountered them in real life. I have provided websites below to complete your research as well as worksheets to fill out and create your own journal with. Please fill them out entirely and use full sentences where necessary. Pretend you have gone back in time and you are keeping a journal of dinosaur observations. As you document your findings, please be sure to gather information that you find interesting because some facts may be on the test later! Also, you will be required to write a factual journal about a day-in-the-life of each dinosaur. You can be creative with this such as saying, "The T-Rex wakes up every morning and brushes his teeth; he is a carnivore so he needs his teeth to be in perfect shape!" Have fun with it and remember, you're traveling back in time! Describe what the surroundings look like and what the world looked like in the Dino Days. Were there any buildings? Cars? People?

Process

Once you've read about the T. Rex, visit these websites to gather your information and to find pictures of the T. Rex so you can color the picture in the book correctly. These will be the "photographs" you took along your journey!

Next, you will print out a map like the one below and you will label where each of the dinosaurs were discovered. Feel free to use dinosaur stickers to designate where they were found, a key with symbols, or just simply write the names in and draw arrows.
