Introduction
This lesson to be introduced for this module is genre study. As a class, we will examine multiple literary texts, and learn how to classify these texts according to their similarities. These categories are known as genres.

Task
Authors use many text-based mediums to convey ideas about a subject. Within conventional prose, these mediums and categories are known as genres. Many genres exist, such as, but not limited to, biographies, creative non-fiction, comeies, tragedies, myths, romances, and epics. We will examine these students, and we will obtain an understanding of what makes these literary genres unique.
Common Core Standards:

Process
1. Read "A Confederacy of Dunces" by John Kennedy Toole (Comedy)
2. Read "Sir Gawain and The Green Knight" (Epic)
3. Read "The Hobbit" by Tolkein (Myth)
4. Read "The Scroobious Pip" by Edward Lear (Nonsense)
All these texts will be read aloud in class, and then read silently at home. These texts will be analyzed according to the settings, plots, characters, endings, etc., and will be then compared and contrasted. Students will contemplate what makes these documents unique, and able to be pidgeonholed within certain categories.
Evaluation
Students will be examined on the lessons contents. Scores of 1, 2, and 3 will be given. 1 represents honors (pass), 2 represents satisfactory (pass), and three represents unsatisfactory (fail). A rubric is available for more clarification.

Conclusion
We will all be "turnt up" for the study of literary genre. Adjust yourselves accordingly.
