Order Of Operations

Introduction

Ms. Foutys Fifth grade Math Class

There is a process and an actual order to operations? Yes, this process is very important to make sure that one is completeing the problem correctly. The process one must complete invloves thinking about all mathematical functions and which comes first. In this activity you will be tested on the order. You will practice each function and then put them all together using logic and your critical thinking skills. When you are done with each step of this WebQuest please submit your work through Moodles, PEMDAS- WebQuest Work file uploader.

Task

You will go through the process of the Order of Operation and then be able to answer all of the following math problems. These problems may seem difficult now but go through the process and experience it. It will then help it to become easier to comprehend. Soon you will be able to do them with no problem at all!

Teacher Introduction

This lesson was designed for fifth grade students who are looking to explore the order of operations another way.  In Fifth grade the Michigan State standards say students must learn about the Order of Operations. Using Pearsons online lesson (book/video) to explain the steps. This webquest incorporates research and literature in a fun way for all students.
