Figurative language and Punctuation

Figurative language helps improve your writing because it adds creativity to your writing and can also help with a better description in your text. It is the use of a word or phrase in a different or creative way. Punctuation are the marks at the beginning, middle or end of the sentence and they can be full stops, commas, exclamation marks or question marks. They show when there is a pause, extra infomation or when it is the end of a sentence.

Examples of Figuretive Language And Punctuation

Metaphor:

A figure of speech in which a term is applied to something to which it is not literally applicable in order to suggest a resemblance.

Simile:

A figure of speech directly expressing a resemblance, in one or more points, of one thing to another.

Personification:

The attribution of a personal (human) nature or characters to inanimate objects or abstact nouns.

Full stops:

A full stop is like a dot which is used at the end of a sentence.

Commas:

A comma indicates a pause between parts of a sentences or seperating items in a list.

Apostrophe:

An apostrophe is used to indicate either possession or if you take away letters or numbers.
