This is a WebQuest which will allow students to investigate the habitats of different organisms and their dependence for their habitats.

Task

Your task will be to match the plant/animals with the appropriate habitat of Georgia. Given a scenario explain/predict how changes affect the habitat. You will answer these questions:

  • What happens to a habitat if it is changed?
  • What are the similarities and differences between the habitats of Georgia?

You will present your findings in Foldables©.

Your mission is to explore the following:

What is an environment?•Plants and animals live together in many different environments all around the world.•An environment is all the living and nonliving things in a place. •The environment is the surroundings: air, water, plants, and animals. •Each kind of environment has many different kinds of animal habitats.What is a habitat?•Every animal has a habitat.•The place where an animal or plant lives and grows is called its habitat.•A habitat is where an animal finds the food, water, and shelter it needs to live.

Aim - Match the habitat to their features

Use the foldable and write the name of an animal that lives in the habitats with the correct features:

Ocean – cold, salt water, many predators

Artic – very cold, snow and ice, little shelter

Rain forest – very hot, damp and many plants & trees

Woodland – can be cold in winter, many plants and trees

Meadow – little shelter, lots of grass to eat

Mountains – very cold higher up, little shelter

Swamp – damp, marshy, with many different plants

Desert – very dry, hot in the day, cold at night, little shelter

Pond/lake – sheltered water is calm, many places to hide
