Introduction
This is a project to have students think critically. If the United States never existed, how would it affect the course of history?
Introduction
The United States has been a very integral part of the history of the world for quite some time now. However, what would happen if we took this piece of the puzzle away? What would we have left? History would be changed drastically!
Task
Time to have a little fun with history!Let your imaginations run wild!
- Consider how the history of the world would have been different if the United States of America never tried to gain its independence.
- Choose 3 specific historical events that would have been greatly changed. (at least one of the events can not be domestic)
- Compose a 2 - 3 page paper describing this alternate reality.
- Follow the guidelines stated in the rubric to gain maximum credit.
- Paper should be double spaced, 12 pt Times New Roman font, cited, and well composed.
- Print 1 copy for class.
- Project is due on June 6th.
Process
Process
First things first. Consider a world without the United States as a nation. Think of way that the course of history all over the world would be changed. Choose three (3) historical events that would have drastically changed without the USA. At least one must be non-domestic.
After you choose your events, you will need to research these events. This will help you to make factual cases in your paper. This paper is creative but it must also follow true factual historic events.
For instance, if I were researching the fall of the Soviet Union, I would research facts and consider what role the United States played in this event. After I learned that I would be able to say how the absence of the US would have affected this historical event.
Most importantly, have fun with this! This paper is for you to dig into history first hand and maybe even rewrite some events you see fit!

Conclusion
Conclusion
I hope you all had fun with this project. As an educator I want you all to realize that history is just as alive today as it was when it happened. Yes, history is about things that happened many years ago, however, all it takes is a little bit of imagination and you are right back to that time. I hope this project helped you see how even small events in history make up the big picture. Just like a puzzle, if you miss one piece, the picture is entirely different.
