Introduction

In the last three weeks you have learned so much about weather in our science unit! In this webquest, you will use that knowledge to complete the given task.

Process

Follow the steps below to help guide you on your weather project.

Step One: You will work in assigned pairs for this project. You and your partner must decide on one type of extreme weather to research and present. Here is a list that we covered in class. You may pick one from here or ask Ms. Oriana if you would like to chose something that is not on the list.

Thunderstorms

Step Two: Use the research links below to gather information on your topic. Make sure you gather enough information to answer the following questions:

What happens in that kind of weather?
What does it look like, feel like, and sound like, to be there?
How can we prepare for this type of weather?
What damage can this weather do to our people and our land?
Can we prevent this type of weather?

Step Three: Find two images of the weather you are researching. Copy and paste them into a Microsoft Word document and save it to your folder.

Step Four: Discuss with your partner all the information you have gathered. Organize your information into 4 groups, then type it into another Word Document.

The 4 categories are:

Description of the weather
Effects on the land
Effects on the people
Prevention

Step Five: Print out you two documents of photos and information. Nicely organize them on a poster board. Add your own creativity to the poster.

Evaluation

This is how your work will be evaluated. You will get a score from one to four for each category. Four means excellent work and a one would mean that you did not meat the expectations.

Conclusion

Congratulations! You have completed your weather project for 2nd grade! You are now an expert on one of the weather systems we learned in class. Your oral presentation will be recorded so that it can be posted and seen by your friends and family. You and your partner deserve a high five for your hard work and determination.
