Introduction

Let’s look at our nearest neighbour on space and learn about the phases of our moon. Moon is the only natural satellite and the only moon of the Earth. As you go along, you will learn about the features and phases of the moon. Come on! Let’s travel through space! 

Task
  • Read and record what the moon is made of and what the eight moon phases are.
  • Cut out the pictures of the moon phases and place in the science folder along with other learned information.
  • Read the power point and answer the question: “Lunar Challenge” in the internet.
  • Learn the eight phases by its correct name

In the classroom:
Using white and black construction paper, scissors and glue, the students will cut out eight circles from the white and draw a moon phase on each one. They will then put the moon phases in order on black construction paper.

Conclusion

Upon the completion of this project, the students will be able to identify the eight moon phases using the correct terminology, and discuss what the moon is made of.
