You are a family man who moved to Canada 10 years ago. You are a Muslim.
In the media -on TV and the internet - you are hearing a lot of negative news about your religion. This is very disheartening to you.
Because you care about how your religion appears to other Canadians - you want to clear about any misconceptions about what they think Muslims believe and do!
A unique opportunity has come your way.
Task
You have been asked to give a presentation about your religion to a group of Canadians who have been accused of being intolerant towards other Muslims. These people have only heard bad things about Muslims.
Your job is to show them that your religion is a good one that is not hurtful to anyone. You will use the website/application "PREZI" to present. Your advisors, Mr. G and Ann will help you with this.
Process
Your "PREZI" presentation will need to show the following:
1. The main main beliefs and practices of Islam (called the 5 Pillars of Islam). List them and for each, describe what it is in a sentence). Include an appropriate image for each pillar. Each pillar should be on a separate slide.
2. Next, you need to show the top countries with the highest Muslim population. Use a chart to show this.
3. Next, you need to find a famous Muslim - someone that has done something good for the world or is a role model. List their name, a picture of them, and one good thing they have done for the world.
4. Next, you need to show the place of worship for Muslims. Name/label it and include images that show the inside and outside of the place of worship.
