Vocal Developmental Periods

Introduction

In class, your group drew one of the following time period in which to research:

- 0-6 years of age

- 8-11 years of age

- 12-17 years of age

- 18 + years of age (adult)

Your group's task is to find out why this period is so important in the development of a person's larynx and vocal folds. You will have time in the Lab each week to work on this project for a period of about 4 weeks. On Friday, May 23, (the day after our concert), each group will present their findings to the class.

Task

Requirements:

-Presentation must be at least 5 minutes in length (it will be timed)

-Include visual adis in your presentation

-Provided handout or note of some kind for those that watch your presentation (must allow the audience to be engaged in the presentation, i.e. fill in the blank, answering questions)

-Information to include

-What changes occur to a person's larynx, vocal folds and voice        during this time?

-How do the changes afect the person it occurs to?

-Any changes exclusive to this time period

Sources:

-Any sources you use MUST BE CITED using the MLA format

-There are several sources that have already been found for you to use for research, however, do not stop with the sources I have found. Use all avenues possible to find the information you need (encyclopedias, media center books, other web resources)

Process

Due to this being the most extensive and thorough project you have had, almost any resources that you need will be available to you for technology. It is my suggestion that you take the following steps to make sure that your project is complete in the 4 weeks time.

1) Gather any and all information to a Pages document

2) Plan how you will present this information (if you need any technology other than Mac's let me know a week in advance)

3) Create your presenation

4) Review your presentation according to criteria on task page

Sources: (reminder - do not stop with these)

(You may have to do some search through these sources to find ones that will work for your time period.)
