Salam Alaikum Eighth Grade Students,
Islam has made many contributions to the world in the past and present. From great leaps in science, math, medicine, and literature to efforts made for human rights, contributions made by the Muslims are numerous.
Task
While contributions from Ancient Islam are easy to spot and have had a long lasting impact, it is your task to find contributions made my Modern Islam to the World. Modern Islam for the purposes of this project will include the time period after 1600 A.D.
At the end of your project you are to develop a Powerpoint Presentation on one Modern Muslim's contribution to the world. Your presentation must include the individual's dates, contributions, achievements, and explain how his/her work holds significance for the world in general.
Process
Step 1: You must begin by watching this video. At the end of the video you should be able to list at least five contributions made by Ancient Islam to the world. You must also record what was mentioned as the last year of contribution.

Step 2: Read the following article and determine three instances where Islam had an impact on human rights.

Akhtar Hameed Khan, Cumrun Vafa, Syed Ziaur Rahman, Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor,Mostafa El-Sayed, Ebrahim Mamdani, Farouk El-Baz, Abdul Sattar Edhi, Malalah Yusufzai. Also, you may want to look up Muslim nominees for the Nobel Prize.

Introduction: 2 slides on background to contributions of Ancient Islam to the world. How are these contributions significant today?
The Challenge today: 2 slides- Do we see sufficient contributions being made today? What's your take on this? Why do you think there is a decline? This will also incorporate Step 7.
Your person of choice: 3-6 slides.Name, dates, contributions made by this person. Which country does he/she belong to? What achievements were significant?
How do you see yourself as a significant contributor in the future?
Make sure you give references for your research on the last slide.
Please make sure your work is free of grammatical and spelling errors. That's a total of about 13 slides.
Conclusion
Through the course of this project students should be able to identify the contributions of Muslims through the ages, and discover what challenges are faced by the Muslim world.
