In the Mind of a Virus

Introduction

 Students will pick a virus (approved by teacher). They will put themselves in the mind set of that particular virus that wants to reek havoc on the human body. They will research the virus (exposures, symptoms, remedies) and present it in a powerpoint or a video to the class. The powerpoint or video should illustrate the students journey throughout the duration of the Virus. 

Task

The presentation or Video could be done in a group or individually. 

It should include:

-Name of the Virus

-Where it originates

-How the virus is contracted 

-What part of the body it effects

-What symptoms the human will experience

-Some treatments that may cause the virus to lay dormant

-How long it takes the virus to run its course

 -What will happen if medical care is not found

Accommodations and Modifications:

-Student may write a short story illustrating their life as a virus.

Process

1) choose Virus

 2) Get approval from teacher

3) research virus

4) put together powerpoint or video

5) present to class

 Evaluations will be done by peers through Peer Evaluation sheets

Teachers will also evaluate project

Conclusion

The students should be able to demonstrate the cycle of a virus of their choice. Understand how a virus is contracted and what it effects. Students should understand what medical treatments are available and how they work to protect the human body.
