PROJECT #2 WRITTEN AND ORAL NARRATIVE OF A MOVIE OR SHORT FILM USING SIMPLE PRESENT& PRESENT CONTINUOUS

Introduction

WHAT IS A MOVIE/SHORT FILM?

film, also called a movie or motion picture, is a series of still images which, when shown on a screen, creates the illusion of moving images due to the phi phenomenon. This optical illusion causes the audience to perceive continuous motion between separate objects viewed rapidly in succession.

WHAT IS A NARRATIVE?

In writing or speech, narration is the process of giving an account of a sequence of events, real or imagined.  A narrative is some kind of retelling, often in words (though it is possible to mime a story), of something that happened (a story). The narrative is not the story itself but rather the telling of the story -- which is why it is so often used in phrases such as "written narrative," "oral narrative," etc.

SIMPLE PRESENT PRESENT CONTINUOUS

infinitive (3rd person singular: infinitive + 's')

Form of 'be' and verb + ing
Things that happens regularly, always  Things that are currently happening (at the moment)
Time and Schedule                                                                                                  Things that might happen in the near future
Exceptions
Exceptions when adding 's' :
  • For can, may, might, must, do not add s.

Example: he can, she may, it must

  • After o, ch, sh or s, add es.

Example: do - he does, wash - she washes

  • After a consonant, the final consonant ybecomes ie. (but: not after a vowel)

    Example: worry - he worries
    but: play - he plays

Exceptions when adding 'ing' :
  • Silent e is dropped. (but: does not apply for -ee)

    Example: come - coming
    but: agree - agreeing

  • After a short, stressed vowel, the final consonant is doubled.

    Example: sit - sitting

  • After a vowel, the final consonant l is doubled in British English (but not in American English).

Example: travel - travelling (British English)
    but: traveling (American English)

  • Final ie becomes y.

    Example: lie - lying

Task

You would need to watch a complete movie and then retell and Rewrite it in order to present it on July 28th, 2016 That day you will provide the narration in a 8 1/2 x 11 paper half space.

Please consider the following to be included in the narration using Present Simple and Present Continous tense as taught in class:

1) What is the incident?

2) What goal does the protagonist pursue?

3) How does the protagonist’s need influence that pursuit?

4) What obstacles (including the crisis) does the protagonist encounter, and how does she engage them?

5) Any other comment you would need to add or consider
