US Constitution

Introduction

                                                

Loyalty. Loyalty is one of the most important characteristics a person can exhibit. As citizens of the United States, we should be loyal to our country. Loyalty includes knowing about the person or place one is loyal to. In this webquest, you will learn about the Constitution and how it affects our country. First, watch this video here.

Task

In this webquest, you will explore the US Constitution and analyze the different sections.

First, you will watch a video and answer some questions in your social studies notebook.

Then, you will read the Constitution and write a short essay.

Next, you will play a game to review.

Finally, you will create your own Constitution using the same principles that the US Constitution is based on.

Process

1. Click to here watch a video on the background of the Constitution. Watch the first 23 minutes and then stop. When you have finished watching the video, return to the webquest and answer the following questions in your social studies notebook:

       A) Why did the Founding Fathers pen the Constitution? What issues were behind it?

       B) How did the Constitution affect the Revolutionary War?

       C) What is the purpose of the Constitution?

       D) What do you think would have happened if the Founding Fathers had not penned the Constitution?

       E) What are the Bill of Rights? Why were they written?

 

2. Click here to access the Constitution. Read over some of the Amendments. Then write a short essay (2 pages minimun) on how does the Constitution affect life today. Include specific references to Amendments in the Constitution.

3. Click here to play a game to review the Amendments. Do not create an account; click "No thanks." Take a screenshot of your scores at the end of the game by pushing the "prt sc" button on your keyboard. Open a Word document and click "Paste" in the top left corner. Save the document to the computer as "Do I have it right_name".

4. Click here and look over the Principles of the Constitution. Then in your social studies notebook, create your own Constitution based upon the same principles of the US Constitution. It should be at least 3 paragraphs long.

Conclusion

As you can see after watching and reading about the Constitution, it is very important to us even today. The Constitution tells us how our country is run and what we are allowed and not allowed to do. This knowledge can help increase our loyalty to the United States. Now, you should have a better understanding and increased loyalty to our wonderful coutry, the United States of America!
