Introduction
The Council town wants to create a new green place in Villanueva del Ariscal. The mayor asks us for creating a really beautiful park near the high school.
He wants to create the park with poligonal shapes.....
Task
Design a park with regular polygonal shapes, use at least six different polygons. You must design the park in a poster board and deliver a summary of all the flats shapes.
Process
A) Create groups of three students and divide the following roles among you:
- Expert in polygons and areas.
- Calculator man
- Architect
B) Information about the park.
Total surface: 1.500m2 (50mx30m)
The park surface must have the followings items:
- Surface of grass with plants and trees
- Surface of playing ground
- Restaurant or picnic area
- Sport area (basket ball, football and so on)
- Surface for water (lake, fountains, pond and so on)
- Rest of surface for paths
C) Go to credits page and search the information you will need to perform your role.
- Expert in polygons and areas:
- Calculator man
- Architect
D) Share with your group the information you have gotten and explain the reason for your choice.
E) make a Summary with all the flat shapes, areas and perimeters you found before.
F) Calculate the size of the polygons using the information of the park.
G) Decide how to create your park with the polygons you have calculated.
H) Exposition of your work to your whole class.
