Introduction
Hello students. Now that we have reviewed and discussed the causes of the Great Depression, we will now look into important legislation and resolutions. After president Franklin D. Roosevelt's election, he proposed the New Deal which was a series of programs and incentives to put American society back on track.
Task
Your objective in this lesson is to:
- Read the radio transcript of President Roosevelt's New Deal propositions and write a 3-5 sentence reflection paragraph summarizing his objective and plan of action.
- Complete activity table to understand the New Deal propositions and identify if they were part of reform, recovery, or relief.

Relief: Immediate action taken after the decline of the economy.
Recovery: Temporary program to restart the flow of consumer demand.
Reform: Permanent programs that were established to avoid another depression.

Evaluation
Students will be evaluated on the accuracy of the table content. Full credit for this lesson will be dependent on participation. This can be completed individually or in small groups.
Students will also receive points for completing their reflection paragraph to demonstrate their understanding of President Roosevelt's goals.
Conclusion
At the end of this lesson, you should be able to identify President Roosevelt and what his leadership skills provided the United States for a new beginning following the Great Depression. You should be able to identify important agencies and legislations passed with Roosevelt's leadership.
