Nervous System

Introduction

The nervous system is a complex collection of nerves and specialized cells that transmit signals between different parts of the body.  In this web-quest, we will explore the major parts of the nervous system and how they work together.

Task

Students are to answer the questions from the web site given.  You may have to expand to other web sites given in the original site.  In answering these questions, students will discover the functions of the nervous system, the number of nervous systems in the body, the different parts of the nervous system.

Process

Lesson Plan Objective:  Identify why we have the nervous system, the different parts of the nervous system, and other ' goodies' about the nerves and the nervous system.

Open a google Document and copy and paste the questions so they both appear when turned in.

Click on the following web address to answer the following questions:

5. What is the main function of the nervous system?

6. How many nervous systems in the human body?

7. How does the human nervous system work?

8. How long are the nerves in the human body?

9. How many pairs of nerves are in the CNS?

10. What are the four main parts of the nervous system?

11. What are the three parts of the involuntary system and what do they do.

12. How many neurons are in the brain?

13. Define the following from the web site:

Conclusion

After completing the web quest, students should be more familiar with the nervous system and the many different parts and functions of the system.
