Introduction
Dominica is called the nature island of the Caribbean because of its many natural resources. A natural resource is made by God. For this presentation we are going to discover some of the natural resources found in Dominica.
Task
Your task will be to work in groups of 3 to list as many natural resources as possible found in the video. Groups will be given 3 minutes to complete watching the video and preparing their lists. A presenter from each group will present to the class. Groups will also find another island with natural resources not found in Dominica. The group to complete both tasks in the allotted time wins the Web Quest trophy.
Process
- The teacher places students in groups using the numbers 1,2,3. All the 1s go in a group etc.
- Groups will be given a chrome book with the link to the video
- Students will use their Social Science exercise book to write down the names of the resources found
- Teacher then instructs students to use the internet to find another Caribbean island with natural resources not found in Dominica
- After the 3 minute period presenters will share their list to the class.
- Teacher announces the winner
- Students will be given home-work to classify the resources according to the headings: water, forest, animals, scenery and crops
Evaluation
The groups will work on completing their list and making their presentations. Students should identify at least 5 natural resources found in the video on Dominica.
Conclusion
After completion of this web Quest students should be able to define and identify natural resources. They will be able to describe natural resources as things made by God.
