DEFINITION

Narrative text is a story with complication or problematic events and it tries to find the resolutions to solve the problems.

The purpose of narrative text is to amuse or to entertain the reader with a story.

 

THE GENERIC STRUCTURE OF NARRATIVE TEXT :

—Orientation

Orientation explains where and when the story happened and introduces the participants of the story.

—Complication

Tells the beginning of the problems which lead to the climax of the main participants.

—Resolutions

The problem is resolved, either in a happy ending or  In a sad ending.

—Re-orientation/ coda

This is a closing remark to the story and it is optional. It consists of  a moral  lessons, advice, or teaching  from the writer.

Task

After you read and understand about narrative text, I will give you tasks related to it. The task will help  you more understand about narrative text. I will ask you to identify the structure  of narrative text, then practice to make and create a video with your own narrative text.
