Unit 2 coursebook “Insight” Pre-intermediate Student’s Book and Workbook by Wildam J. and Beddall F. 2014 – Oxford University Press.
You will start reading the history and significance of place names mentioned in the coursebook (page 22). When you finish, underline any new word or interesting information. This will help you to develop comprehension skills.
Task
You will work in groups (no more than 4 students) to research a place mentioned in the coursebook, focusing on its:
- origin
- historical significance
- interesting details
Each group will write their findings in a notebook to organize and create a poster to present to the class. Then, you will present your poster to the class.
Process
Process and Resources: Each group will follow these steps to complete the post-task:

Presentation: Present your poster to the class, highlighting the most interesting aspects of the place names you researched.
Products:

Group posters: detail the origin, historical significance, and interesting information about your chosen places.
Report/Analysis:

Each group will analyze their findings and present them clearly and effectively in their posters.

During the presentations, groups will compare their findings with those of their classmates to gain a broader understanding of place names.

Self-evaluation, for this activity, you will:

Complete the textbook exercises 3, 4 and 5.
