Task
1. Sing/play at least 5 pitches
2.Clap out rhythmic values of a whole note, half note and quarter note
3. Differentiate four accent markings
4. Exemplify each articulation
5. Recall each note in the C major scale
Process
First students will learn the proper techniques and approach to an instrument. This introduces them to the concept of how music can be perceived. Once students learn about the instruments, then they will learn about the C major scale. This will help their music literacy and understanding of how each note works in this particular scale. Once students are familiar with notes in a major scale, then they will learn how to play each notes. When students become familiar with notes and rhythm, then they are ready to play a song. Before they learn the song, they must have an understanding of articulation. Once the students learn about musical articulations, then they are ready to play their first song. The assessment of their playing is under Musical Response.
Evaluation
Once the students learns the essential concepts that are required for every musician, then they are ready to play their piece of music. This activity is the culmination of every musical concept that the student has learned and the knowledge that has been gained from each lesson. Students will be evaluated on correct technique, correct posture, use of articulation, playing right rhythms and notes. Students should have at least a 90% accuracy once they've applied what they have learned in their performance.
Conclusion
Students will be able to use musical literacy, musical response and contextual relevancy to understand and interpret the many concepts of music. Students have learned about rhythmic notation, articulation, pitch, improvisation, notation and intonation which develops them into proficient musicians. This webquest is definitely a valuable interactive tool that is designed to help students succeed and grow in music education.
