Muscular Strength and Muscular Endurance

Introduction

When learning about the 5 components of health-related fitness, students ask me what's the difference between Muscular Endurance and Muscular Strength.  Well, I have developed this webquest to answer most of your questions you have for this topic.  So, what is the difference between Muscular Endurance and Muscular Strength?

Task

Students will learn about the two components of Muscular Strength and Muscular Endurance.  They will learn what is similar between the two, but ultimately they will learn the difference.  Students will answer ten questions that will focus on the differences between the both of the components and enable the students to tell the two components apart.

10. Choose one of the exercises for Muscular Endurance.  Do the exercise how the website says to and complete 4-5 reps.  Which exercise did you do?  Were your muscles sore after the exercise, and did you feel your muscles working during the exercise?  Did you feel you did the exercise correctly?

Evaluation

We will be having an in-class discussion on this assignment.  We will cover these questions during the discussion.  We will also do all of the exercises for our Muscular Endurance workout for the day.

Conclusion

With this information, students can select the right exercises when trying to improve their components of Muscular Strength and Muscular Endurance.  Moving forward something to take from this assignment is that Endurance refers to low weight high reps and Strength refers to high weight low reps.
