Task

Calling all Marine Biologists!

The protected species of the The Great Barrier Reef need your help!

It is your job to help other young people learn more about the different types of protected animals that depend on the reef to survive and how important they are to the ecosystem.

You will create a Prezi or Glogster presentation and make an interactive game that teaches children about these amazing animals.

There's no time to waste so let's dive in and get started!

Process

Steps 1-4 are to be done individually. You will turn in your notes (either electronic or paper) for a portion of your grade. In Step 5, you will get together with your partner to collaborate and create a final Prezi or Glogster presentation and an interactive game.

 Step 1: Watch the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wbNeIn3vVKM. Take notes as you watch in your Science journal. Step 2: Read the resource on the website below and make notes on the worksheet provided.http://www.gbrmpa.gov.au/about-the-reef/animals/protected-speciesStep 3: Open the resource beside your animal and explore. Step 4: Learn about your animal! Explore the various resources on your animal. 

In your presentation are required to include the following, but feel free to include additional information as your group sees fit. Name of the animal and a brief description-habitat, location, diet, ect. Interesting facts about the species .Population estimates or survival trends of species.Reasons the species is protected.Reasons that it is important to save the species.Possible solutions to help the species survive.How you can help.Step 6: Create a fun, interactive game that teaches players about your animal. Teamwork The work was not divided equally and one person did more than his or her fair share of the assignment. Team members produced work for the project, but one did considerably more work than the other. Team members worked collaboratibvely and contributed work to the presentation and construction of the Prezi/Glogster. The work was evenly divided between each student and each person participated equally in the presentation. 5
