Severe Weather Poster Project

Essential Question: How does weather affect us?

Students will create a poster about a severe weather of their choice. On one side of the poster the students will share facts and pictures about the severe weather. They will also share how this particular weather affects people. On the other side of the poster the studetns will have a picture and a list of safety steps.

Materials Need

  1. Poster board (can be any size or color)
  2. Pencils (for drawings)
  3. Coloring material (for drawings)
  4. Internet acess (for research purposes; to look for important information)
  5. Acess to local Library or book store (for research purposes)
Task

Step 1: Choose a Severe Weather for your Project

For example, Hurricane, Tornado, Thunderstorm, Lightning, Snow storm, Tsunami, Earthquake.

Step 2: Find resources

Students will gather information about their severe weather. Use online resoucres and books to gather information. Information needed: What is the severe weather and how does it affect people? How can people prepare for this weather...saftey tips?

Step 3: Keep Track of Ideas

While gathering your information write your ideas down in your foldable. Write the type of weather on your foldable and list details about it on your foldable.

Step 4: Create Project

Use the information that you have gathered to create your severe weather poster. Draw a picture or use a photograph showing the severe weather. The drawing or photograph should show a dramatic image of the weather.

Present Project

Present your project to the class. Use the presenting checklist to help you present your poster to the class.

  6. Make eye contact/project your voice= 1 point
