You will encounter some of the challenges that face entrepreneurs when they start a new business.  These challenges include ways to identify a market, reach the market, and keep the market.

 

You will create 3 roles.

  • President - this person will lead the group and assign tasks.

 

  • Vice President - this person will check the work of the group for errors.

 

  • Secretary - this person keeps track of all paperwork for the group.  The paperwork will be kept in a file in the classroom so that all group members will have access.  The secretary will also create a folder on the computer to store all downloaded WebQuest forms.

  • Now that you have read and understood your responsibilities regarding this Pizza Project WebQuest, lets begin to outline the different tasks that you will be expected to complete. 

 

  • Some tasks are to be completed as a group and other tasks are individually completed. 

 

  • Make sure you read the directions before you begin each task. 

 

After you complete the first task you may move on to the second task.  Do not advance further then the task that you are currently on.

  • Your second task is to decide on what type of customers will be shopping at your pizza shop.

  • You may want to consider a possible location before you decide on your customer profile.

  • Once the file is saved, your group will need to fill in the blanks on the customer profile using Google Doc.

  • When you are finished with Task Two you may move on to Task Three.

 

 

                                                            Task Three:  Name & Location  (Individual Task)

  • Your third task is to decide on a specific location and name for your pizza shop. 

  • Review the Customer Profile that your group created and decided on a specific location based on the customers that you choose.

     
  • Before you discuss possible names read the website below for some tips when choosing a business name.

  • Choose a name that is catchy and easy to remember.  Keep in mind that names are listed alphabetically in the phone book, including the yellow pages.  Be prepared to explain why you chose the name you did.
  • Your secretary should open the file below and save it in the Group WebQuest folder.  Once the file is saved, your group will need to fill in the blanks on the Cover Sheet using Google Doc.

  • When you are finished with Task Three you may move on to Task Four.

 

 

 

                                                 Task Four:  Product Profiles & Prices  (Individual Task)

  • Your fourth task is to decide  what type of products you wish to sell in your pizza shop.

  • You should think about size of pizza, toppings, appetizers, sides, drinks and salads.

  • The Secretary should open the Google doc file below and save it to your Group WebQuest folder.

  • Once you save the file you will need to decide on the products that you wish to sell and include them on the worksheet.

  • After you have decided on the products that you wish to sell in your pizza shop, your  will research various prices for those products at the following websites.  Click on the links below and then find the restaurant's menu.  Once you find the prices for the products, you will include the prices on the Product Profile worksheet.

  • Present your final prices in a chart using Google Sheet .  The chart must include the product, prices, and sources.  You should only make one chart per group.  Save the chart in the Group WebQuest folder.

  • When you are finished with Task Four you may move on to Task Five.

 

 

                                                           Task Five:  Making the Menu  (Individual Task)

  • Now that you have looked at several menus online for prices - it's time to design your own.

  • You may refer back to these websites for assistance when designing your menus or wording your descriptions for your products.

  • Use Google Slides or any other Presentation Tool (extra credit) when designing your menu and be sure to save it in the Group WebQuest folder.  The checklist that I will use to grade your group menu can be found on the Evaluation link.

                                     Task Six:  Giving Back to the Community (Individual Task)

  • How does community service relate to customer loyalty?

  • This is your final task before completing the culminating activities.

  • Search the website below and read about how one pizza shop makes a difference in the community by creating a fundraiser for your school called Giving Back Pizza.  Pay attention to how the response from customers grows each year.  Think about how your pizza shop could give back to the community in order to generate a larger customer base.

  • When you are finished reading all of the articles you will need to think of a community service project that your pizza shop could do.  Remember who your target market and market segmentation is .  Do you you want to try and entice other customers to try your pizza and get a new target market?

  • You will create a  flyer using Google Slide (https://slidesgo.com/slidesgo-school/powerpoint-tutorials/how-to-create-a-flyer-in-powerpoint) for your event following the guidelines listed in the checklist below.

There are just two more things that you need to do to complete this WebQuest.  When you are finished with all of the tasks then you need to work on the following two assignments.

Each group must create a final Presentation that includes:

1.      Pizza Shop name and location

2.      Group member names and roles

3.      Customer Profile

4.      Product Profile

5.      Product Price Charts

6.      Menu

8.      Flyer

  • Each group must create a PowerPoint presentation and divide the presentation evenly between the group members. 
  • Each group member will be assessed individually based on the criteria listed below in the checklist. 
  • Each group presentation should be between 7 and 10 minutes in length. 
  • Each individual presentation should be between 2 ½ and 4 minutes in length.
