Introduction
This WebQuest is designed to teach 1st graders the Value of coins and how to count them together.
Task
CA State Standards:
1.5 Identify and know the value of coins and show different combinations of coins that equal the same value.
2.5 Show the meaning of addition (putting together, increasing) and subtraction (taking away, comparing, finding the difference).
Objective 1: By the end of this lesson students will know value of a penny,nickel, dime, and quarter.
Ojective 2: By the end of this lesson students will know how to add and subtract monetary values from a cluster of coins.

Step 1: Watch Youtube video (Money Money Money)

Step 2: Give each student a handful of change and a handout of the Penny Penny poem.
Penny, penny, easy spent,
Copper brown and worth one cent.
Nickel, nickel, thick and fat,
You’re worth 5. I know that.
Dime, dime, little and thin,
I remember—you’re worth 10.
Quarter, quarter, big and bold,
You’re worth 25, I am told.
Step 3: As students and teacher are reciting the poem student will hold coresponding coin to match stanza.
Step 4: Practice songs and poem for the rest of weak
