Mrs. Kersavage's Biome Web Quest

Introduction

You have entered into this world known as the ecosystem. You first passed a diagram of a food web. Did you notice how the energy was flowing throughout the web? In this webquest, you will be given a task to complete and demonstrate your understanding of what takes place in a specific ecosystem by researching a biome.

Task

Each student will work on creating a 6 slide presentation of their biome.  You will be given one  type of environment or biome, to concentrate on:   Desert, tundra, temperate deciduous forest, grasslands, or coniferous forest.

Slides should contain the following things from your biome:  A map showing where your biome is located, a food web/chain, the climate/weather of your biome, and 3 plants, 3 insects, 3 animals from your biome.

Each student must write a 1-2 page report about their biome which includes: 1/2-1 page on  the 3 plants, 3 insects, and 3 animals, and 1/2-1 page on  food web/chains, the climate/weather, and any adaptations of plants or animals to the biome.

Finally, each student will present their slides and tell us what you have learned about your biome.

Process

Here is a short video to get you started and remind you about food webs and chains:
