Central Internet Agency (CIA)

 

A report was just sent to the Director of the Central Internet Agency (CIA) stating that people that use the internet are unaware of the possible dangers it poses.

The report provided the following information:

  1. Approximately 556 million people are victims of some sort of cyber-crime every year
  2. Identity theft has about 232 million victims per year
  3. 1 in 10 people fall victim to internet scams and fake links

The CIA director finds this information alarming and wants to warn the public about how to properly navigate the internet. Unfortunately, the CIA has little time to dedicate to this project.

So, that is where you come in. It is your mission to find credible information on internet safety in order to provide a report for the CIA director.

In your report you need to give the director specific ideas on how to help people stay safe online.

Task

You have been trusted to take on the mission of finding ways to warn people about the dangers online.

It is your job to create a report using credible information you find online in order to help the general public identify key issues that relate to internet saftey. 

You should have received a classified information packet from the CIA director. Look through your packet for information on your mission.

We can't discuss anything else about the classified packet online. We don't want the information to get out...yet!

Process

Objective 1: Get Certified

See your Classified folder on how we will leak the information to the public.

Objective 6: RED ALERT!!

A report just in from the CIA headquarters announcing a number of wesites that may have information containg false facts. Your mission is to weed through these sites and determine if they are credible or not. 

The sites are listed below. Click on each link and take a few minutes to look through the site and determine its authenticity. If you believe the information on the website may contain false or misleading information report back using your memo sheet. If you believe the site is credible explain your reason (s).
