Introduction
We are about to begin a unit on George Orwell's Animal Farm, a novella about farm animals that overthrow their farmer and develop their own society based on "animalism," where all animals are equal.
Animal Farm is based on the Russian Revolution. (That is why Mr. Murray spent two days explaining it to us!) The animals within the story each represent a person involved with the Russian Revolution
Before we begin reading Animal Farm, it is important that we understand the information/circumstances behind the story. (Otherwise it is just a weird novel about a bunch of talking animals.)
