Introduction
HELLO STUDENTS AND WELCOME TO OUR WEBQUEST ON MODERN DAY SLAVERY!
We hope that through this webquest you will be able to see our contemporary society and some of its complex issues from many different perspectives.
Understanding human trafficking and modern day slavery is going to take a little research as many misconceptions often revolve around these themes.
We are often informed by the media about migrants arriving to our country almost on a daily basis.
Have you ever asked yourself why so many are coming?
Task
Here is your mission:
Your class has been chosen to participate in a competition to raise awareness about modern day slavery. You will have to organise a social campaign on the topic:
“Be an abolitionist! STOP human trafficking!”
"Buy slavery-free products"
You are invited to create a brochure or a video using all the information found searching the websites provided in the resource section.
Here is our working agenda to be completed by all groups in phases 1-3:
Task 1
Browse through the websites and resources provided and answer the questions in our Google.doc
Task 2
Collect the most important facts in a common multimedia presentation (PREZI) with the aim of informing your audience about the main facts and data of modern slavery in the world.
Try to include the following:

-
a graph to explain some statistics
-
the face of human trafficking in photos
-
what is being done
-
Task 3
Choose and investigate a product that is manifactured somewhere in the world through the exploitation of human beings.

Conclusion
Congratulations students!
Now that you have finished your webquest, hopefully you have been informed and educated on the effects that human trafficking has on people all over the world.
Our hope is that you have been inspired to take a stand against this gross injustice and that you will now spread the information among your friends and family. With the help of the websites listed, go into the world and help spread your knowledge about what you have just learnt about human trafficking.
Don't ignore the fact that this violation of human rights affects 27 million people world wide, but instead share your knowledge on the subject and provide information to people who are interested on the subject.
Also, be aware of what you buy! If the price is too cheap, don't take it for granted but think who made those goods and how much they got paid for their work.
Share this website with others and invite them to check out what they could do to help the lives of innocent people all over the globe.
