Introduction
The target range for this WebQuest is Kindergarten through 1st grade. The objective is to explain what causes an item to either sink or float, then get the student to make hypothesis for certain items follwed by an experiment where the student cna then try the items for themselves to see if they were correct.
Task
This Webquest will require the following materials:
* at least 1 large bucket
* access to water
* penny
* paper clip
* baseball
* toy car
* piece of paper
* empty cup
Process

After watching the video have a discussion with the students to guage their level of understanding and to clear up any confusion.
For the experiment fill a bucket of water large enough to hold the items to be tested. Pass out the handouts of the table below and have the children make a hypothesis to whether they believe the items will sink or float. Then allow each student the opportunity to try the items themselves.
After the experiment is finished take time to review with the students what actually happened with each item.

Evaluation
At this grade level their isn't really much for an evaluation other than to just make sure the students are comprehending the material covered. Make sure each child gets a chance to try the experiment.
