Introduction
Hi Kids!
In today's forecast we will be talking about the weather and Meteorology. Meteorology helps to understand what kind of weather it will be outside..like for example snow, rain, hot, cold, or sunny. As you move on by clicking task, you will learn more about weather and how important it is in our lives here on Earth.
Task
Task 1
WEATHER STATION
A weather station uses tools to measure many parts of the weather.
Use the tools below to measure and describe your weather today.
1. Read the thermometer on your classroom window. Use a red pencil to mark today’s temperature and color in the thermometer below your mark.
2. What does the weather look like outside your classroom window today? Circle your answer.
3. Using the Rain Gage outside your classroom window, measure how much precipitation has fallen this week.
Use a blue pencil to mark this week’s rainfall amount on the rain gage below and color in the gage below your mark.
Task 2
THE WATER CYCLE
The water is very important to Earth. All plants and animals need water to live. The weather controls the water cycle and keep our water clean.
Review the Water Cycle diagram and answer the questions below.
Questions
- What happens to water on mountains? ___________________________________
- What makes water evaporate? __________________________________________
- What are clouds made of? _____________________________________________
- What is it called when water falls from the clouds? ___________________________________________________________________
- What is it called when water turns into vapor to form clouds? ___________________________________________________________________
Process
The purpose of this activity is to gain an understanding of meteorology. Meteorology is vital in
understanding how life on Earth is sustainable. Through the observations and studies of how
the atmosphere and climate work, the more you can truly comprehend
one of the phenomenon's that keeps Earth the only known planet to support life.
Earth is sustaining perfect alignment within the milky way galaxy to sustain life. Many other
planets in our galaxy are gas giants, whose atmospheres do not provide the necessary gases,
climate, and weather conditions for anything to survive.
Below are some questions that would be great to know! Use the links provided to find the
answers to these.
Why is the sky blue?
How are clouds formed?
Draw and label each type of cloud.
How are weather forecast made?
What causes hurricanes?
What are the lowest and highest temperatures recorded in the U.S. in Fahrenheit?
What are Earths forecast compared to Jupiter's?

Based on your Task 1 assignment, you will automatically receive a 100. As long as the student understands how Meteorologists use thermometers to determine the temperature outside and how to use a rain gauge to measure the amount of rainfall outside, they have accomplished this WebQuest effectively!
Conclusion
Now that we all now everything we need to know about Meteorology we know it helps all of us. Wether you
are a 5 year old or a 47 year old. It helps us plan stuff for outdoor activities and also tells us when we will
need to wear a jacket or to wear just a t shirt. If it wasn’t for meteorology we would not be able to tell if it’s
going to be sunny or snowy. The water cycle explains to us where water comes from and where it goes. So
with the information we provided to you above I hope you got a a better understanding of what meteorology
is and how it works. So next time you are watching the news keep an eye for the meteorologists. He or she
knows all about this and it may help you fully understand this. We left a few questions for you and if you
have any questions in return we will be happy to help you. Meteorology is super important to our earth and
lets us know a little more of this huge planet.
