Mental Health Awareness for Adolescents

Introduction

Have you ever wondered why some teenagers feel overwhelmed by stress, anxiety, or pressure while others seem to cope more easily? Adolescence is an exciting stage of life, but it also comes with many emotional, social, and academic challenges. Unfortunately, mental health is often misunderstood because of misinformation and stigma.

Imagine that your school is organizing a Mental Health Awareness Week. Your class has been invited to prepare educational materials that will help fellow students better understand mental health and encourage them to seek help when needed. As members of the Mental Health Advocacy Team, your responsibility is to investigate reliable information and create an awareness campaign that is informative, accurate, and engaging.

Task

Working in groups of four to five members, you will create a Mental Health Awareness Campaign for adolescents.

Your group must produce:

  • A digital infographic or poster.
  • A 3–5 minute awareness presentation or recorded video.
  • A one-page list of practical strategies that students can use to maintain positive mental health.

Your campaign should answer the following questions:

  • What is mental health?
  • Why is mental health important during adolescence?
  • What are common mental health challenges among teenagers?
  • What are healthy coping strategies?
  • When and where should a person seek professional help?
