United States Presidents

Introduction

The first President of the United States took office in 1789: George Washington. Since then, 42 others have been sworn into office. There is much to learn about them and their contributions to America.

Task

Research each of the 43 U.S. presidents. Find at least one interesting fact about each one. Create a Presidential Fact Sheet.

Process

Students will be divided into groups of 4 or 5. Each student will research a selected number of presidents. The group will discuss their research and agree upon interesting facts to add to the presentation. The group will organize and compile information into a "Presidential Fact Sheet."

Evaluation
  Beginning - 1 Developing - 2 Advanced - 3
Presidential Fact Sheet The report does not meet the informational and language standards expected. The report touches on most of the information but is disorganized. This report is well-written, organized and includes all correct information.  All role responsibilities within the group were completed and done together.
Collaborating with Team The student did not fully complete their share of responsibilities in the group. This student completed the necessary role responsibilites, but failed to contribute to the other aspects of the project at all. This student completed their role responsibilites to the group fully and contributed to the project overall by working together with their classmates on the other aspects of the project.
Total Performance Rating This student showed limited effort and did not contribute to their group sufficiently. This student did the bare minimum of what was asked of them in their group. This student contributed greatly to the project.  They fulfilled their responsibilities and also worked well with their partners in the group structure.
Conclusion

Throughout this project, students should learn a lot about the history of men who have governed this country. They should acquire new vocabulary and knowledge. They should develop opinions of what it takes to be remembered as a great leader of the country.
