Introduction

After your three individual speeches, you will now get the opportunity to develop a speech as a group. You will use your persuasive skills and develop a speech using the Monroe’s Motivated Sequence.

An introduction to Monroe’s Motivated Sequence.

Task

Learners: College students in Public Speaking 102, spring 2014

For this speech, you will work as a group to address the needs of a current problem.  The format we will be using for this speech is Monroe’s Motivated Sequence. Each person in the group is required to present one aspect of Monroe’s Motivated Sequence. The manuscript should be used as an aid, not a text.

When you present the speech, you may use either a manuscript or notes, and you may speak from behind the lectern. If you choose to use a manuscript, however, be aware that you will still be evaluated on such aspects as eye contact and facial expression. Even if you use a manuscript, it is a good idea to have a notecard as well. Remember as well, you are not required to use a manuscript. At least one visual aid required, and a minimum of eight sources must be cited in the speech.
