Introduction
Meghalaya is one of the seven sister states of North Eastern India. It holds two record of obtaining highest rainfall in a day at Chepparunjee and highest yeearly rainfall at Mawsyrnam. Situated among the Garo and Khashi hills Meghalaya is motly valley state and thus receives a lot of rainfall. Due to this Meghalaya haas abundant flowing water.
In this webquest you will study about the hydro-electricity production capacity of Meghalaya and the Physics behind hydro-electricity.
Task
The following tasks are to be performed. (Any one needs to be done)
1. Study the present hydroelectric capacity of Meghalaya and how much more it can go. Draw an image of a hydroelectric power plant along with dam and catchment area and label its parts. Also mention the steps of energy conversion and the physics behind it.
2. Study the present hydroelectric capacity of meghalaya and how much more it can go. Using Simulators or Flip Video or Animation show the process of hydroelectric creation. Explain the physics behind it.
3. Study the present hydroelectric capacity of meghalaya and how much more it can go. Imagine the devastation caused to the environment by the catchment area of a dam. So think of methods which can be used to harness hydroelectricity without creating a dam.
Process
The following general process will have to be followed.
1. Search the internet about Meghalaya. Get the necessary information.
2. Study about Hydroelectricity and how it is created.
3. Make a detailed report / ppt / animation / video / collage etc to present your project.
4. Send the project to the ipscr.shubham@gmail.com
Evaluation
Evaluation will happen as per the following criteria.
Content - Take care of content. You can search online for ideas and information but Plagiarism is strictly forbidden. You must not copy paste information to make your report.
Grading will happen in the following way.
| Marks | Content | Innovation | Presentation |
| 1 | Material is directly copied | No innovative ideas or suggestions | Lacks clarity |
| 2 | Material is copied to the extent of not more than 50 percent. | Innovative ideas are present but not explained properly. | Clarity is there but not proper continuation |
| 3 | Content is written in own language and copying is less than 30 percent. | Innovative ideas are present and explained but lack clarity | Clarity and continuation is there but is too heavy on text. |
| 4 | Content is informative and has trivias and copying less than 20 percent | Innovative ideas present and explained properly but image or diagram missing | Clarity, Continuation, Less text but Not proper Images |
| 5 | Content is informative, has trivias and copying less than 10 percent. | Innovative idea is present, explained with images and explanation. | Clarity, Continuation, Text, Images all at place |
Conclusion
You should include in the report what have you learned during the project.
Credits
