Means of protest

Introduction

This webquest will teach students about Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcolm X, Muhammed Ali and how they each played a key role in the Civil Rights Movement. They will learn about the Jim Crow laws and the Civil rights Act.

What was the Civil RIghts Movement ?

This movement ocurred during the 1960, which was a tumultuous time in American history. Along with civil rights, there were other issues such as the Vietnam War and the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

Civil rights sought for equality for all people, as the US Declaration of Independence states that "All men are created equal".

Who were the key players in this movement ? What did they wish to do to achieve civil rights for all ?

One of the two key players throughout this movement were Dr Martin Luther King Jr, and Malcolm X. Each had a different view as to how civil rights should be achieved. Their upbringing and their view on the world had a significant impact on where they stood in achieving civil rights.
