Introduction
Measurement: Triangles
The purpose of this week’s work is to:
- Familiarize yourself with the theoretical knowledge w.r.t triangles
- Ensure that you familiarize yourself with all the concepts and how to use it.
- Understand the Theorem of Pythagoras and know how to apply it to problems.
-
OR
Example 3:
a2
+ b2
= c2
( pyth)
c2
= a2- b2
c2
= 412- 402
c2
= 1681- 1600
c2
= 81
c2
= 81
c
= 9cm

Task
You are required to complete the following tasks.( Show all calculations)
Task 1
A rectangle has sides with lengths 36 mm and 77 mm. Find the length of the rectangle's diagonal.
Task 2.
Mervin puts the base of a 13 m ladder 5 m away from the wall of his house as shown below. How far up the wall does the ladder reach?

Process
To complete the tasks given:
Just remember that we are working with a triangle.
- A triangle has three sides, three angles, and three vertices.
- The sum of all internal angles of a triangle is always equal to 180°. This is called the angle sum property of a triangle.
- The sum of the length of any two sides of a triangle is greater than the length of the third side.

Task 1
A rectangle has sides with lengths 36 mm and 77 mm. Find the length of the rectangle's diagonal.
a2 + b2
= c2
( pyth)
a2 = b2+ c2
a2 = 772+ 362
a2 = 5929 + 1296
a2 = 7225
a = 85mm
Task 2
Mervin puts the base of a 13 m ladder 5 m away from the wall of his house as shown below. How far up the wall does the ladder reach?
a2 + b2
= c2
( pyth)
c2 = a2- b2
c2 = 132- 52
c2 = 169- 25
c2 = 144
c = 12m

Conclusion
Important:
Please complete activities
This might be a new platform for all of us, but Covid-19 has affected each one of us.
This is new for all.
- Try to study on your own
- Research activities on Triangles or Pythagoras
- Stay Safe
- Sanitize at all times.
