Introduction

There are several branches of Christianity. For example, there's Catholicism, Calvinism, Lutheranism, Anglicanism, and more! In this task, you will be researching and learning about the revolutionary Martin Luther and his introduction of Protestantism into Christianity.

Task

Use the links provided to find information about Martin Luther. During your reading/listening, be mindful of the following questions and answer them as you follow along:

  • What were some corruptions seen in the Catholic Church during 1517 – 1648?

  • What did Luther do to bring attention to the corruptions in the Catholic Church?

  • What were some of Luther's key beliefs?

  • What invention helped spread Luther's ideas?

  • What is an indulgence?

  • Why was Martin Luther excommunicated from the Catholic Church?

  • What are some forms of Protestantism that were founded after Lutheranism? Name two.

  • What was the Diet of Worms?
