Learning, A Transition Activity

Introduction

The WebQuest will focus your frame of thought on what your post high school learning goals are or could become.  Take a little time to think about what you want to do as a profession after high school.  Be aggressive though, aim high.  If you have to think, "If I could be anything I wanted to be, what would I choose to be?", then do just that.

Task

You are to research the educational background of a profession that you are interested in:

  1. Choose a profession.
  2. Research and find out what you have to do for training.
  3. Decide how long it will take you to finish that training.
  4. Investigate where are you going to go to get the training.
  5. Explain why you want to do what you have chosen.
Process
  1. Choose a profession- this can be any job, any career setting, be happy with your choice.
  2. Research the training needed to obtain an entry level position in this career field:
    1. How long it will take you to finish that training?
    2. Where are you going to go to get the training?
    3. Explain why you want to do what you have chosen.

Conclusion

The idea for this is not to make a final decision on what you want to be when you grow up.  Some adults go through many career changes in their lifetime for one reason or another.  This was a thinking activity.  So what did you think?  Is the training for the profession or career you chose to research what you thought it was?  Did it encourage you or discourage you?  If this wasn't what you were thinking it was, what is another direction you can move into?
