Welcome to the Main Idea Adventure! Today, you will explore different websites, read interesting stories, watch fun videos, and discover the main idea of each one. Get ready to become a main idea expert and have a lot of fun along the way!

Your mission is to complete five activities where you will identify the main idea of stories, articles, videos, and pictures. You will write down the main idea and the supporting details for each activity and share them with your group.

1.  Finding the Main Idea in Pictures

• Look at the picture and read the caption.  Write down the main idea of the picture and one supporting detail.

2.  Main Idea in Short Stories

• Choose a story to watch.  As you listen, identify the main idea of the story and write it down.  Include two supporting details.

3.  Main Idea in Videos

• Choose a video to watch.  Write down the main idea of the video and two supporting details.

4.  Main Idea in Articles

• Visit https://www.highlightskids.com/explore/science-questions/how-do-fish-gills-work
• Read the article.  Identify the main idea and write it down.  Include two supporting details.

5.  Main Idea in Comics

• Visit https://www.gocomics.com/search/full_results?terms=cat&category=comic&short_name=garfield
• Read 3 Garfield comic strips.   Write down the main idea of each comic and one supporting detail.

You will be evaluated based on:

• Main Idea Identification: Did you find and write down the main idea correctly?

• Supporting Details: Did you include supporting details that back up the main idea?

• Sharing and Discussion: Did you share your findings and discuss them with others?
