A Look at the Heart

Introduction

In this unit, you will be discovering and researching the major parts of the human heart. As a class, we will create a KWL on the human heart. Everyone will also have a chance look at, touch and put back to together a model of a human heart.

Task

Your task will be to research one of the major parts of the heart. You will research one of these major parts: the aorta, left atrium, right atrium, left ventricle, or right ventricle. You will be placed into groups to conduct your research. As a group, you must draw out a model of a heart on chart paper and label only your part of the heart. Then research facts and information about your part to share with the class.

Process

1. Quickly and quiet divide into your groups. Gather the supplies you will need: Chart paper, markers note cards, and laptop (only one per group).

2. Choose a researcher, recorder and a speaker for within your group.

3. Draw and research you major heart part. 

4. Make sure all areas have been researched from the paper that was given to you by your teacher. 

5. Present your assignment to the class.  

 

Evaluation

The students need to work cooperatively to complete a clear group presentation.  They will identify and answers the assigned questions.

The students will work together to complete the assigned project.

The group answered all questions correctly. The group answered 4 out of 5 questions correctly. The group answered 3 out of 5 questions correctly. The group answered 2 or less questions correctly.

After completing this WebQuest, you will understand the functions of the major parts of the human heart.  You will have a better understanding of how the major areas of the heart work together.
