Introduction

Hello and Welcome everyone.

Have you guys looked at the map of the Pacific Ocean and wonder where Kiribati might be? Well, for today we are going explore the Pacific Ocean map to find our country!.

For this lesson you will learn and discover:

  • Where Kiribati is found on the map.
  • What shape does Kiribati show on the map
  • Where does the equator passes through
  • The 3 main island groups of Kiribati

Hopefully by the end of this lesson, each of you will be able to identify Kiribati on the map and identify it's features along with the three main island groups.

 

Task

Here is what you need to do.

  1. Locate Kiribati on the map 
  2. Look closely and identify the shape and it's location
  3. Locate and name the three island groups such as, Gilbert, Phoenix and the Line Islands
  4. Draw an equator on your map
Process

Follow these steps to complete the activity.

Step 2

  • Study the shape of the map of islands
  • Identify where the equator passes through

Step 3

  • Locate and name the three main groups
  1. Gilbert islands
  2. Phoenix Islands
  3. Line Islands

Step 4

  • Draw the map of Kiribati
  • Label the three Island groups
  • Draw the equator at its correct place

Step 5

  • Share your drawing of the map to your colleagues or teacher
  • Compare each map drawn and make sure everything is correct
