Biomes:

Introduction

The world is made up of all kinds of diffrent biomes. A biome is a region of the world with similar animals, plants, and other living things that can addapt to a enviorment. There are diffrent classifications of biomes . However, we will just be focussing on the 6 major ones:

~ Tundra

~ Taiga

~ Rianforest both Temperate and Tropical

~ Desert

~ Grasslands

~ Decidious forests

A biome is made up of many similar ecosystems. A ecosystem is the interaction of biotic and abiotic factors in one area. In a ecosystem, the animals and plants of that area rely on eachother and the physical enviorment such as nutrients, soil, water, ect. At any given time a ecosystem can get off balance and the animals and plants of that area are then forced to adapt. Within each biome there the living organisms that have addaptions to survive in there sometimes harsh enviorments. For example: a snow fox in a tundra biome will have a extra coat of fur on its feet so that it can walk on snow without getting cold, along with white fur to blend in to the snow so that it can hide from preditors.

Abiotic Factors: oxygen, sunlight, rain/snow, wind, ect.

Biotic Factors: polar bears, white fox, snowy owls, artic hares, caribou, mosses, ect.

The unique climates and living conditions of each ecosystem and biome creat a wide variety on our planet. If you would like to learn more on ecosystems and biomes give this video a try. Or maybe this website with interactive games will help also. Enjoy!
