When was Orwell born and when did he die? What did he die of? How old was he when he died?
What were the most prominent events happening during this period of time?
What are three ways that his work is characterised?
Why did he purposefully get himself arrested?
Which war did he fight in? What injury did he sustain in this war?

How did events in his life shape his perspective towards politics?
What was his goal in writing the novel 1984? What message was he trying to convey to the public?

Write a couple sentences to describe George Orwell's life as a whole. What do you think about him from the small bit of research that you have done? What do you think it was like to be George Orwell?
