Introduction

Great places to visit in Uruguay!

Every city has its similarities and differences. Some cities are small and some are very big. Most cities offer facilities, lodging, dining, and activities and events.

You have a new job! You work in advertising at the City Hall. You are going to create a brochure about your city describing all the important amenities in your city. The brochure will be used as advertisement for visitors that your city is a great place to live and visit. The brochure will also help the visitors know what is available in the community. It is important to create the best brochure of your city to attract more people to the community. 

Task

 

You will create and present a brochure about the community. You will be divided into groups of 4 to create a brochure of the city. You will research different places.  Each person in the group will have a section (Facilities, Dining, Lodging, Recreational Activities/Events). The brochure will be created using Microsoft Word. Then you will present the brochure to the class. The brochure and presentation will include: 3 places in each category, Name and address of each place, 3 special events in the community, a community map, and pictures of the community.

Process

1) Divide in groups of four.

2) Choose one of these Uruguayan cities:

3)Discuss with your group:

  • What resources (Bus station, Hospital, etc.) does you community have?
  • Which restaurants are the best?
  • What are the best motels or lodging in the city?
  • What recreational activities does the community offer?
  • What are some community events held in the city?

4)Decide:

  • Which places are you going to research and include in your brochure?

5)Divide the sections among your group.

Each person will take one section. Include recreation and events in the same section.

Each section should include at least 3 places, except the recreational activities, it should include at least one place for activities and at least 3 events.

Each place should include an address, phone number, and a description.

The brochure should also include pictures of the community and a community map. 

5)Begin your research.

6)Create the brochure together with your group on Microsoft Word.

Make sure the brochure looks appealing to others.

The brochure will include:

  • Front: Title, Names in group
  • Inside: Facilities, Restaurants, Hotels, Recreational Activities & Events
  • Back: Community Map 

7) Present your brochure to the class.

Conclusion

You should know what the community offers now, and you should be able to share it with others.

This project should help you know what facilities are available in the community. You should also know where to go for dining, lodging, recreational activities, and events that happen in the community on an annual basis. Did you learn anything new about the community?
