Good lesson planning is essential to the process of teaching and learning. Today you will explore the lesson planning components!

 

Task

There Once Were Teachers Who Ran, Ran and Ran. They Ran Through The Various Components Of A Lesson Plan!

Today you will work individually to complete the first activity. For the second activity, you will work in collaborative groups to answer questions. Use links and other information provided for this purpose. Individual responses should be written on the paper provided to you. Group responses should be written on chart paper.

Process

In your group, choose

  • 1 person who wants to look at the Biotic & Abiotic Factors lesson plan

Activity #1: Your task is to answer the following questions for your chosen lesson plan on a sheet of paper (10 mins).

  1. Are the objective(s) and standard(s) listed?
  2. Identify the beginning, middle and end of the lesson.
  3. List two teacher, student and technology moves?
  4. Is differentiation evident?
  5. What does the closing consist of?

You are the expert! Briefly discuss your answers from Activity #1 with your group!

Activity #2: Discuss in your groups the following questions and write your answer on chart paper (10 mins).Once you have finished place your chart paper in a corner of the room.

  1. Does the standard, objective, task and evaluation activity align in each lesson?
  2. How could the Exploration Activity in the Science lesson be improved and why?
  3. What are two differences between the Math and Reading lesson? Hint: Formatting and release of responsibility
  4. What is similar about the objectives listed on the Math and Reading lesson plan? How does the objective listed in the Science lesson plan differ?
  5. Choose 1 lesson plan, as a group discuss how differentiation can be integrated?

 

Evaluation

Now you are going to do a Gallery Walk (7 mins)!

Whole-Group Discussion (3 mins):

1. How were your group answer different/similar to the other groups?

2. Were any of the lesson plans exemplar and why?

3. Name 1 thing that you learned about lesson planning while completing the activities embedded in the Webquest.
