Introduction
This webquest will introduce you to leadership styles and provide you a chance to determine your leadership style. Each of us has the potential to be a leader - just in different ways.
Task
Everyone has to be the leader at some times in their lives. Each of us has leadership skills and traits, they manifest in different ways.
What makes a person a good leader in a given situation? There are many factors.
You will explore the concept of leadership, you will look at the 8 Leadership Theories; identify qualities of effective leaders, and explore Leadership Styles.
Then you will search for a movie clip containing a character demonstrating the qualities of a good / strong leader. You will introduce the clip to the class and after viewing, point out the traits/skills of the leader to the class.
Process
Students may work in pairs to complete #1 - research of leadership theories and styles.
Students are to work independently to complete #2 and #3.
1) Leadership Theories and Styles
a. Download the Leadership Graphic Organizer. Open it and complete it using the reading assignments.
(1) Either print or type into the Leadership Graphic Organizer:

b. Submit a copy of your completed Leadership Graphic Organizer before moving on to the next step. (Electronic copy - place in the dropbox; paper copy - have the teacher/substitute initial the paper before you proceed. Turn in the paper at the end of class).
2) Movie clip - character's leadership style
a. Search for a movie clip where the character demonstrates good/strong leadership traits.
b. Create a presentation where you embed your clip into the presentation, identify the character's leadership style and include a breakdown of the character's leadership traits.
c. Submit the presentation to the dropbox and be prepared to introduce your character and the movie clip to the class.
3. My Leadership Style/Skills
Write one paragraph reflecting on what you believe your Leadership Style is and provide at least two examples of your traits/experiences to support your belief. Submit this paragraph into the assignment dropbox.
Conclusion
From this journey into leadership styles, you should have an indication of your leadership style.
The selected movie clips shared by classmates has illustrated the many ways leadership skills are used in interacting with people from all aspects of your life.
